Reading Garden stocked with books for new season
Join us as we embark on the fourth season of loans for the Human Library´s Reading Garden in Copenhagen. The place where you can borrow another person for a courageous conversation. Every Sunday, starting April 28th through October 13th, from noon to 4 pm, we are open to our readers.
This season was made possible with kind support from Nordea-Fonden and since 2020, our Reading Garden has been nestled in front of the cultural hub, UNION, situated at Nørre Alle 7. This season, we continue our tradition of providing a unique learning experience for all free of charge.
Drop in and borrow a person
Upon arrival, approach our library desk where our friendly librarians await. They will guide you through the diverse array of subjects available for lending and brief you on our rules for readers.
Once you’ve selected a topic of interest, your librarian will facilitate the borrowing process, introducing you to your chosen “book.” Then, you can find a cozy spot in the Reading Garden to engage in an open dialogue. Here, all inquiries about the subject matter are encouraged and welcomed.
Book loans extend up to 30 minutes, though you’re free to return your book sooner if you wish, provided it remains in its original condition.
Bilingual books
To accommodate our many visitors from around the world we always have books available in both Danish and English. Over the past three years we have had the pleasure of serving tourists, students, researchers, families and even mayors from South Korea. This season we expect even more interest because a visit to the Human Library Reading Garden is a unique experience and something you most likely will never forget.
New selection each week
All the books on loan are volunteers from the Human Library´s book depot in Copenhagen and sometimes we are also able to feature books from our depot in Aarhus or from abroad. You see if a Human Library book from the United States or anywhere else, is visiting Copenhagen. Then they are always welcome to join our bookshelf. Over the season our books take turns publishing for readers and so each week we are able to offer a different selection of topics.
