Support for local book depots

President of Scan Design Foundation Fidelma McGinn with Human Library founder Ronni Abergel
The donation will support the activities of our local Human Library Book Depots across the United States. The Human Library is a global learning platform where people can “borrow” a person instead of a book, to engage in open and honest conversations that challenge prejudice and promote understanding. Our local Book Depots serve as community hubs, where trained volunteers coordinate our activities and maintain a diverse catalog of “Books” representing different lived experiences.
More free learning opportunities
With this donation we will be able to strengthen our community-based efforts and enable us to host more free local pop up Human Library Book Café events where difficult questions can be asked—and answered—in a safe and respectful space.
“The Scan Design Foundation’s gift helps us bring important learning opportunities to communities across the U.S” said Ronni Abergel, founder of the Human Library.
The Human Library North America currently supports Book Depots in several U.S. states including California, Indiana, Illinois and New York, each working to foster dialogue and understanding.
