Human Library at Williams School, New London, Connecticut, USA
The Human Library will feature as part of a day-long event on diversity at the Williams High School in New London, Connecticut. On April 24th, 2010, the students at the private school will have the opportunity to meet Living Books representing a wide range of members of the local community. Titles will include Muslims, Jews, homosexuals, transgendered, homeless, police, atheists, military and the local organizers from Groton Public Library and the Hands Against Hate Coalition are still in the process of recruiting more books to ensure a diversified selection for the students to pick from. The event is targeted at the students of the of area high schools but it is also open to the general public.
Hands Against Hate is a coalition of organizations committed to exploring issues of prejudice based on race, gender, ethnicity, religion, disability and sexual orientation. This event is planned to help attendees face their prejudices. Read more about Hands Against Hate using the weblink below.
