Human Library - Take out a prejudice

US: First preparatory meeting for new organizers in August.

Great news travels fast and so does interesting ideas such as the Human Library. Everyday now there are new contacts with enthusiastic americans that want to join in on the fun. A group of interested new organizers from Indiana and neighbouring states are meeting up in August in Fort Wayne, to look at the possibilities of hosting a Human Library. This is the first working preparatory team to emerge in the US and soon more will follow.

Group new organizers by region.

The amount of ground to be covered is enourmous and so we are grouping new organizers together in regions. This will make it easier and faster to organize and to distribute information and setup a traning seminar if needed. Our goal is to have 100 new organizers in the US before the end of 2009. By summer next year we should have a coast to coast network and with the help of a new volunteer US based co-ordinator, we are convinced that things can progress fast.

Oakland just came in.

Yesterday a literacy teacher from Oakland, California, took the first steps to touch base with us and have a look at the ground work ahead of an event. If everything goes as expected the late fall will see the launch of the Human Library in the US in numorous states.
