Human Library at St. Joseph Catholic High School, Ottawa, Ontario, Canada
A Career Human Library will be open for the students of St. Joseph High School on March 7th, 2012. The event is scheduled to happen at the High School Cafetorium and it is the first of its kind in Canada.
The idea is to challenge the prejudices about specific careers. And so the 10th grade students will be introduced to actual practitioners who can explain what their career path is all about. The local organizers aim to educate the students about a wide variety of careers with information that is real and relevant and comes straight from the horses mouth. And so the stereotypes of students will be challenged as they face people in jobs that they may frown upon or think little of.
The "Career Human Library" was originally developed as a spin off from the Human Library by creator Ronni Abergel and so the Copenhagen North Side Public Library in Denmark, has since 2004 had a permanent "Career Human Library" that helps young people make qualified choices about their future education. This will be the first such event in Canada.
This event is not open to the public.
