Human Library at PuSh Festival, Vancouver Public Library, Vancouver, Canada
A Human Library will be
featured as part of the many events that take place in Vancouver, Canada
during the PuSh International Performing Arts Festival 2013.
The event will reappear for three weekends straight as part of the
festival program. Starting on the weekend 18-20th. That should provide
local readers and visitors to the festival with ample opportunity to
pick up a title that can challenge their perceptions and views. Local organizers expect to present more than thirty different human book titles to readers.
From Metro News:
Vancouver playwright Dave Deveau is the curator of the Human Library.
He said the project is an important way to connect with people who have
radically different viewpoints.
“It’s really rare to be able to
sit down and … talk one-on-one with a person who we probably wouldn’t
necessarily strike up a conversation with,” he said. “It lets us peer,
very briefly, into their lives and their struggles and find that core
human relatability.”
