Noorderzon Festival feature a 9-day Human Library Event
Most organizers put up a one-day event. Some even just a few hours, but in Groningen in the Netherlands, a local festival is setting a new record. Noorderzon Festival is happening right now and features a nine day long Human Library event, with a selection of more than 50 living books. Amazing numbers in this the 10-year anniversary of the Human Library. Many special events are still to happen this year, but the Dutch event will surely be the longest event. The Human Library is open from August 20-29th, 2010.
Online booking
Books are working in 3-hour shifts and most of the volunteer books have more than one shift, during the festival. Besides recycling living books the local organizers have done a tremendous work to setup an online booking system. This allows readers to book their title before arriving at the event and helps organizers get a sense for the level of interest in advance of the event. Naturally readers also have a hardcopy of the list of literature, or catalogue, available to them at the counter.
