Human Library - Take out a prejudice

La bibliothèque humaine - a Canadian connection.

The story goes that a canadian student by the name of Hélené Mercier, attending the University of Lund in Malmø, Sweden. Discovered the Human Library while taking place in the Malmø City Library (Stadsbiblioteket). She then got in touch with us and went on her way back to Canada where she dropped of the guide and a project description and went off to Burkina Faso.

Ten days of Human Library in Quebec.Action Week Against Racism 2007.

Two years down the road we now discover that something actually did happen in Quebec. From the 15th to 25th of March last year, a variety of books where on loan from a Human Library hosted in the Bibliothèque Gabrielle-Roy in Quebec City. The event was part of the "Action Week Against Racism 2007" and some of the books on loan included the exiled Haitian, a female muslim from Algeria and the congolese engineer. All of the books had a different cultural background from the majority in Quebec and as such the link to diversity and tolerance seemed very strong. Radio Canada dropped by and did a story and a nice article in french, both can be found HERE.
