In conjunction with Conestoga College’s Respect Campaign initiative, the local organizers want to integrate a Human Library event as part of the Respect Week celebrations on campus.
Aiming to build more awareness about the diversity of
students who attend Conestoga College and some of the challenges/experiences they have had while pursuing post-secondary.
“We hope to build awareness of the impact of disrespectful behaviours when prejudices/stereotypes are used, and to provide education on the diversity of our student body. We hope the week of celebrations, in addition to the Human Library, will help to reinforce the message of building a respectful, welcoming and inclusive campus community for all students” says local organizer Ryan Connell.
Titles are expected to include an HIV-Positive individual, drag queen, mature student, student recovering from substance use, New Canadian & International students, individuals with mental health issues, student with Asperger’s, mature students, Gay/
Lesbian/Bisexual/Trans students, and more.
The event is open for students, faculty and community members.
