European Union handbook recommends the Human Library as a best practice on integration.
The European Commissions Directorate General for Freedom, Security and Justice has published a European best practice handbook on integration for policymakers and practitioners. Among the methodologies recommended to member states is the Human Library. This means that the European Commission encourages its member states to use the approach and to support local initiatives that stage Living Libraries.
Positive recognition of the methodology.
To be inducted into the handbook is another recognition of the methodology. The first came from the Nordic Council of Ministers youth sector and then from the Council of Europe, that have gone on to include the methodology in their human rights education program and as a primary instrument in last years "All Different - All Equal" Campaign. The handbook should be a helpful reference for local organizers, when they are fundraising for projects and future events.
