Human Library - Take out a prejudice

Australia with a National Strategy to support the development of Living Libraries.

What started as an idea to combat prejudices in Denmark has now become a National Strategy in Australia. As the first country to introduce a permanent Human Library in 2006, its nothing new, that down under, there are some very dedicated people, working to make good use of the methodology. Australians are prepared to face their own prejudices it would seem.

Shauna McIntyre is the national Human Library project manager and she is excited about the response to the concept in Australia. "We have new Living Libraries opening up in Australia almost every day", says Shauna. There are some very exciting developments with the Human Library around the world. This is a National Strategy to support the development of Living Libraries in Australia. A first for the methodology, lets hope that many more countries will follow. Living Libraries Australia is a partnership project between Lismore City Council and the Department of Immigration and Citizenship.

The Living Libraries Australia website will launch in September, in the meantime developments can be followed here and on the website of Lismore´s Human Library
